What good quality beach blankets should actually do

Good beach gear does three things. It keeps sand off you, gives you somewhere comfortable to sit and packs down small enough that you actually bring it.

Most beach mats get one or two of those right. Maybe.

The cheap ones let sand stick. The thick ones are too heavy to carry. And almost none of them pack down small enough that you bring them every time.

So you either spend half your day brushing sand off, or you leave early because sitting on a towel gets old fast.
