Happy International Women's Day: Women who get outside

For International Women's Day, we're celebrating the women who actually use our mats.

Not influencers. Not brand ambassadors. Just real people who throw a mat in the car and head to the beach.

Women who get the family outside

Behind so many beach days, camping trips and backyard adventures is a woman quietly making it happen. She's packing the snacks, remembering the hats and sunscreen, and convincing everyone that fresh air is better than another hour on a screen.

Across Australia and around the world, women are often the ones planning family adventures and creating a love of the outdoors that lasts a lifetime. It might be a simple afternoon at the beach, a weekend camping trip, or teaching little ones how to explore rockpools and collect shells. These moments might seem small, but they're powerful. They build confidence, curiosity and a lifelong connection to nature.

International Women's Day is a chance to celebrate those everyday leaders: the mums, aunties, sisters and friends who get everyone out the door and into the sunshine.

Women who are smashing goals outdoors

There are also women pushing the limits of what's possible outside. Athletes, adventurers and explorers are redefining what strength and resilience look like.

Surfer Stephanie Gilmore has inspired millions with her eight world titles and her graceful approach to the ocean. Australian endurance swimmer Chloe McCardel has broken multiple long-distance swimming records, including repeated crossings of the English Channel. And environmental advocate Turia Pitt has shown extraordinary determination by returning to endurance racing and outdoor adventure after surviving life-changing burns.

Their stories remind us that the outdoors belongs to everyone. Whether it's chasing world records, catching a wave, or simply taking the family for a swim at the beach, women everywhere are showing the next generation what's possible.

The woman who designed this

Cabanamate was designed in Australia by a woman who was tired of beach gear that didn't work. Too heavy to carry. Sand everywhere. Takes twenty minutes to pack up. So she made something better. Light enough to actually bring. Sand-proof enough to stay clean. Simple enough to use every weekend.

She is a busy mum of two, a research scientist and the person behind two small businesses. She also owns our sister company, Rockabye River!

The women who use it

Mums at the local beach with kids. Friends meeting up for sunset. Women who surf before work and need somewhere to change. They're not posing for photos. They're just outside, doing their thing.

Designed in Australia for beach days that actually work.

Happy International Women's Day to everyone who gets outside and makes it happen.
